Historical Canvas Prints

From vintage style prints to historical city photographs, illustrations and posters, our range of historical prints and maps are sure to look attractive in any setting. Historical print art allows us to take a journey to a time passed that shows us an insight into both what the people of the time experienced in their lives but also how they wanted to be portrayed in their artistic expression. Historical artwork includes the artwork of classical periods and modern art and vintage map art that emerged from the various periods of history.

Historical Queensland

It’s hard to believe that Queensland has transformed so rapidly in the last century, its small, quiet beach towns growing to accommodate travellers from around the world. Our collection of canvas art print contains some of the most memorable covers of The Queenslander, a newspaper from the mid-nineteenth century, which includes leisurely moments at the beach, and the first sights of aeroplanes. Or perhaps it’s an artwork of a family enjoying time under the sun.

World History Art

From old train tractors to emerging advances in aeroplanes, our collection of canvas art history contains mementos from history. For the history buffs, our canvas art prints of ancient Egypt, old-world maps and navigational maps will pique your interest. Our historical bicycle art nods back to a time when cars, motorcycles, and buses were not as easily accessible to the everyday worker. For some, the bicycle acted as a key method of transport, an important object to get to work, and has perfectly shown in The Bicycle Thief (1950). These images of historical art will undoubtedly transport you to another time.

Historical Art

While modern and contemporary art has come a long way, it’s the art of academia that remains vital to our world as it has captured a time past. Painting and illustration were the key tools to depict the time before photography and film, as captured by Pavel Fedotov in The Fresh Cavalier (1846). There is a range of historical art within our collection that show royalty and nobility, sunsets, and marine ports. Featured heavily in The Canvas Art Factory is the work of Russian artist Ivan Aivazovsky (1817-1900), known for capturing realistic and sublime moments in the ocean. Our Impressionist art also captures a moment of history, as seen in the work of Childe Hassam as he captured historical moments of victory and celebration. There was a time when advertisements looked like works of art, and our collection contains some of these artworks, celebrating Coca Cola, the New York Times, and more.

Historical Animal Art

Before the invention of photography, many skilled illustrators went out to the wild and captured the fleeting beauty of wildlife. From birds to elephants and prowling jaguars. The distinct lines and bright, beautiful colours captured by the artists are eye-grabbing and depict these animals more intimately than a camera ever could. No lens can quite capture the peafowl the same way as pen and palette can, highlighting its regal green and royal blue feathers, or the elongated graceful appearance of a giraffe. From their unique colour, features, and beauty, our collection of Historical animal art will brighten up any living space.
