Wrapping Options (for your edges)

How do I know what Edging to choose for my photo on canvas print?

All framed prints have edges. When you upload your photo through this website you will see on the same page that you have different edging options to choose from.  Standard/Picture edges are automatic unless you choose differently.  The edge options offered when you upload your photo are included in your price.  Standard/Picture edging may not always be best for your photo, depending on the subjects within your photo.  The other options for your edges are what we call Mirror edges or Block edges. Whichever edging option you choose, it is included in the price. A photo of a baby with a black block edge. You can choose any colour you prefer.

In the example shown here, you have a photo of a baby with its hands up and on either side the baby is holding a finger of an adult hand.  If you were to choose standard/picture edging, then each of the adult hands would be lost on the edge of the canvas so the effect of the baby holding a finger on each side would be lost to an extent, which would be a shame. If you were to choose one of the other edging options, like the black Block Colour Edge option chosen in this photo, then nothing is lost.

You can choose your edging options all on the the same page where you upload your photo.

Here's a summary of your Edging options:

  • Standard/Picture Edging is a good choice when your key photo subjects are not near the edges of your photo.  The photo image is wrapped around the edges of the canvas (this is standard).  It's important your photo subjects are not too close to the edge or you'll lose between 20mm and 40mm from each edge of your photo (depending on the frame size) - view a sample

  • Block Colour Edging gives you solid colour on each edge of your canvas with your own colour choice, or if you don't choose a specific colour, then we'll choose one for you that matches something appropriate on your photo. With this option you are not losing any of your photo from the front of the canvas - view a sample

  • Mirror Image Edging is used on each edge of your canvas where your photo's edges are mirrored in each edge and none of your photo is lost from the front of the canvas -  view a sample

  • Pixel Stretch Edging is an optional extra.  If you require this, there is an additional setup fee of $30.  The colours from the outer most border of your photo are stretched around the edge so that the colours extend around the edges of the frame, and again you are not losing any of your photo from the front of the canvas  - see the image below for all the edging options compared side by side
